Nokia & Airtel Team Up To Deploy 5G In India

Nokia and Bharti Airtel have joined hands to bring 5G internet connectivity technology to India. The duo will be forming a 'strategic roadmap' for the network, aimed at the next-generation of connected devices.It has been mentioned that the project will build upon 4G infrastructure in terms of power, operations and cost effectiveness, and have the 'highest level of quality and reliability.'


5G connectivity will be targeted at improving peak data speeds, network latency, agility and more. The technology is claimed to be helpful in future development of smart cities, IoTs, connected vehicles, remote healthcare and other sectors.

Both companies will use Nokia's 5G FIRST end-to-end solution that also includes AirScale radio access portfolio and AirFrame data center platform to demonstrate 5G capabilities.

While Nokia is partnering with Airtel to deploy its 5G solutions, India's newest telecom operator Reliance Jio has tied up with Samsung to bring 5G in India. The announcement was made in a closed event at MWC 2017 conference in Barcelona, Spain.Samsung also announced its "I&G (Infill & Growth) Project" for Reliance Jio. The project aims to upgrade the LTE mobile communication services in India by expanding current network capacity and the network coverage.
